Cook County Vaccine Mandate Update 1/5/2022

January 5, 2022

 Dear Recreation Center Patron,

As you may be aware, Cook County Department of Public Health has issued Mitigation Order 2021-11. This requires users of many business to now be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The City of Palos Heights’s Recreation Center is one of these categories of businesses that are required by CCDPH to enforce the current Mitigation Order.

Beginning Monday, January 10th any patron over the age of 19 who wishes to participate in the below activities are required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against Covid-19:

 -Fitness Center

-Walking Track

-Open Gym

-Group exercise classes

Those who cannot provide proof of being fully vaccinated will not be eligible to participate until CCDPH updates this Mitigation Order.

Please be prepared to present your vaccine card upon request. We will accept your physical CDC card, a photo of your card, a photo copy of your card, or a digital card provided from a health care provider or public health agency. We will not maintain a copy of your card; however, we will note your vaccine status has been confirmed and update our registration software so you will not need to continually bring your card. During this transition period staff may request your card on multiple visits.

CCDPH prohibits any religious exemptions through this Mitigation Order, however we can accept medical exemptions under the following conditions:

  1. You present a note from a health care provider stating you have a medical exemption from this vaccine
  2. You present a negative Covid-19 test from within 24 hours of each visit

For more information on this order please review Mitigation Order 2021-11 on the Cook County Department of Public Health’s website.

Should have questions please feel free to reach out to a full-time staff member of the Parks and Recreation Department.

We thank everyone for playing their part while we all navigate this together. You can connect with us via e-mail at or give us a call at 708-361-1807. Please continue to check out updates as they become available on our website and Facebook.

 Best Regards,
