PUBLIC NOTICE – February 24, 2025

Availability of Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Data for The City of Palos Heights

This notice is to inform the public that The City of Palos Heights is in compliance with the requirements of the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR) established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and has completed monitoring for unregulated contaminants in our drinking water.

Unregulated contaminants are those that do not yet have health-based standards set under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). The purpose of monitoring these contaminants is to assist the EPA in determining whether they should be regulated in the future to protect public health.

Monitoring was conducted during January–December 2024 Monitoring Period and included testing for twenty-nine (29) per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and lithium. Our results did not indicate the presence of these unregulated contaminants within the minimum reporting limits. This notice does not imply any violation of drinking water standards but informs the consumer of the monitoring results which provide valuable data for future regulatory decisions.

The data collected from this monitoring program is now publicly available and can be accessed  by clicking the link below:
